ITS' Email Dec 31 2010

Greetings,

Welcome back to Winter Quarter 2011!  Information Technology Services (ITS) group would like to remind everyone that Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 will be installed to all computer classrooms and labs for Winter Quarter 2011 beginning January 4.

ITS staff will be walking the halls of Cascade Court, Library, Olympic, Tech Ed, University Center, and Rainier Hall buildings to assist faculty who are having problems with profiles and log in.  Faculty can also still email (sscchelp@sccd.ctc.edu) or call the helpdesk at (206) 764-5844 for any computer assistance.

With the help from SSCC's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), instruction handouts will be posted in all classrooms throughout the Library and Student Labs.

These WIN7 (campus network computer) handouts explain:

  • How to LOG ON
  • How to SEARCH for Files/Applications/Help
  • How to SAVE Files
  • How to Find HELP/ Report Trouble

When issues in the classrooms and labs are resolved, faculty will get priority for the upgrade and replacement of their office computers to Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010.  This plan is meant to bring faculty offices to be consistent with the instruction environment.

South Seattle Community College has partnered with e-Academy to allow students, staff, and faculty to order software for home use at academically discounted prices.  We encourage everyone to purchase both Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 from the store.  The SSCC e-Academy store is at http://sscc.onthehub.com/.

Thank you, and Happy New Year!
