HUMAN RELATIONS (PSY 240) and ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR(SOC 253) are now online courses. Both courses are designed for the student who would like the convenience of an online course and figure out the sociological work force mystery.
 Students who are in the academic program and pursuing a 4-year program should take SOC 253.

PSYCHOLOGY 240 - Human Relations

Description:

The study of Human Relations looks at factors that help or destroy effective relationships at both work and in our personal lives. The course focus is two layered. First, to understand interpersonal relationships and secondly, to apply the concepts. Human Relations is based on theories and concepts of many disciplines such as: psychology, sociology, anthropology, and political science. From these fields of science, we have learned much about behavior, attitude, group development, group functions and dysfunctions, motivation, communication, leadership and personality. This is a 3 credit hour, non-transferable course.

The textbook is located at SSCC Bookstore.  You may purchase a used book but it must be the edition currently used in class.

SOC 253 - Organizational Behavior

Description:

Organizational behavior as seen through sociological theory. Concepts show how managers can improve organizational effectiveness by attending to the human side of the enterprise. Topics such as: leadership, conflict theory, motivation, social interaction theory, power, politics, group dynamics and organizational design are examined for the effects on employees and their performance. This course satisfies 5 credits of the Associate of Arts degree requirement in IC&S.
