Description: This course is designed for technical students and serves as an introduction to the Applied Communications courses (ENG 105 and ENG 106). Students assess, practice, and improve communication skills required in the workplace including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and group work skills. The class is conducted in a computer lab; students learn the basics of word processing for written and oral assignments and use instructional software to improve punctuation, spelling, and English communications skills. Students in ENG 103 will work on assignments for ENG 105/ICT 103. At the discretion of the instructor, if ENG 103 students complete all required competencies for ENG 105 at a 3.3 level (87%), they are given credit for ENG 105/ICT 103. |
