1 week before a quarter STARTS

Instructor Briefcase (IB)

Before each quarter begins access your Instructor Briefcase (IB) to find your class roster and student email addresses.   A very helpful way to start the quarter is to send a welcome email to your students giving them a link to your faculty portal website and course syllabi.

IMPORTANT: Most students do not know how to update their contact information in our campus system so you're not guaranteed to find a perfect email list in your IB. However, it's an important place to start.

Once you have your students in front of you on your first day of class be sure to give them this link https://sccdweb.sccd.ctc.edu/seasou/stuaddr/waci203.html so they can personally update their official campus contact information for all of us!  You could include it on your faculty portal site as well. That'd be very helpful!

Please encourage students to use their @SouthSeattle.edu email accounts. With an @SouthSeattle.edu account students can get deep educational discounts and free collaborative tools and SSC lyndaCampus!  They can easily "forward" what's sent to them to their preferred email account with instructions we've provided here, as well: http://sites.southseattle.edu/email/

Faculty (Portal) Websites
Create Your Portal!

A faculty portal website is your online faculty business card. It provides student's with your contact information, courses you're teaching. Whatever you'd normally want to share with your students and colleagues can go on your portal site.

Do you have a faculty portal?

Is your faculty portal website link published on our list of faculty portal sites? http://sites.southseattle.edu/faculty/

Student Email Accounts

All students have SSCC Google Apps for Education (SSC GA4E) accounts assigned to them after they've registered. http://sites.southseattle.edu/email/ - please encourage your students to use their @SouthSeattle.edu (email) account and the collaborative tools that come with this account by adding this link to your Syllabus and faculty portal.
