Tests are pencil-and-paper tests. The Tests are not done online. Hence, you will need a place to take the test and to be proctored during the test.
Go read about Proctors on the Proctors page on my website.
Once you have chosen to test at the college, one of our sister colleges, another formal testing location or with an appropriate proctor, you will be asked to notify me of your choice by providing the name and contact information about your proctor (unless it is one of the Seattle CC District's sites) during Week 2. You will notify me by filling out the Proctor Choice Form found under your class webite (not available yet...wait until week 2).
When testing, the Proctor will have you fill in the student portion of a Proctor Sheet with basic information, such as your name, SID (Student Identification Number), and which test you are taking . (NOTE: It is your responsibility to ask for and verify that you have received the correct Test or Retake Test. Taking the wrong test is your error, not the proctor's, so be sure you ask for and receive the correct one.) After verifying who you are by looking at your picture ID (if you are not personally known by the proctor), the Proctor will give you the test. You will have 60 uninterrupted minutes for each test (2 hours for the final). You may finish the test earlier if you wish, but you must not interrupt the time of the test and then return...so go to the bathroom prior to the exam, not during the testing time. (Once you stop working on the test even for a few minutes, you are done! )
You will not be allowed to use any outside resources other than your calculator on any test. There will be no scratch paper allowed (there is room after each question for your work). Show all your work if you want full credit for each question on the test.
If you take your test at one of the district testing centers, you have to provide an envelope (unstamped)
as the proctor will send your test and proctor form back to me in the campus mail. However, if you take the test anywhere else, you must provide a stamped envelope addressed to me (see my address in the menu on the left, under Contact Information). Note: Do not put your own address as the return address.
No matter where you test, if you want your graded test returned to you, you need to provide a SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope) for the proctor to attach to the test. I can then pop your graded test into this envelope and mail it back to you.
Make sure the envelope is large enough and put enough stamps on it. For tests, a legal-sized envelope with 2 stamps are generally required. For the final exam you will need to use a larger-sized envelope with 3 stamps.
