Your Proctor:
A proctor must be an impartial person in a position of some authority, but not over you. That is, your family members, friends, and boss are not appropriate choices for a proctor. Some places to locate a free proctor would be at SSCC or one of our sister colleges itself, your local community service center (if they are willing to provide this service), at your religious center; that is your church, temple, synagogue, etc (again, if they are willing to provide this service) or a supervisor (other than your own or the Human Resources office) at your place of work. (Note that most libraries and/or librarians are not appropriate proctors, as they merely provide a space for testing, but do not supervise testing.) There are other places, such as any nearby College or University Assessment Center or an educational business, which may charge a fee, but are certainly appropriate and may be more conveniently located to you. If you are unsure of whether someone is an appropriate proctor, check with me.
Remember to call in advance to set up an appointment to take your test with your proctor unless you use a drop-in testing center.
Below are the free testing services available to you in the Seattle Community College District. See the document Proctor/Testing Hours for details about these three sites.
You MUST arrive in time to finish your test before closing time. If you arrive late, you will not get the full 1 hour for your test (or 2 hours for your final), so be sure to plan ahead!
