Contact Me

TLC Associate

As one of the TLC Associates, you can meet with me to develop your online presence in ANGEL and/or Google Apps for Education (GA4E). If you have questions related to the information here or want to process ideas related to instructional design and support, fill out the "Contact Me (Faculty)" form to request an appointment.

I head the
COLT committee, offer workshops related to instruction, and coordinate Quality Matters (QM) activities on campus.

TLC Associate Approach
I approach my role as a TLC Associate similarly to the writing principles emphasized in my English courses:
  • Say MORE about less. This translates in the TLC in that there’s always a ton of stuff I’d like to do or learn about, but I know that the best work will come with quiet, calm deliberation. In other words, I will pick one focus at a time and develop that. When working with faculty, I prefer to work on one or two teaching goals at a time. So, when we meet, we might focus on a particular concept (Angel rubrics) or translating a project from your face to face class into an online format.
  • Good writing (and critical thinking) takes time; ideas and answers need to time to marinate and collaboration is required for the best work to evolve. Since the best ideas come out of a combination of collaboration and time, I like to see my relationship with faculty as ongoing and the topics organic. And, since technology is always changing and there’s no ONE best approach or ONE static solution, it’s natural for work in the TLC to also be ongoing and organic. So, we may find an initial way to teach a particular concept online, but both of us can be open to revisiting the solution over time.
