As you can tell, I enjoy hiking. The woman on the right is me; the woman on the left is Fay Fuller who was the first woman to climb Mt. Rainier in 1890. I have never actually climbed Mt. Rainier myself--snow intimidates me; I try to hike on firm ground. You can read more in Hiking Washington's History, published by the University of Washington Press in 2010. I'm currently working on a book related to the 1850's in Washington Territory. I have retired from full-time teaching at South Seattle Community College and now teach online or hybrid or evening courses. Winter Quarter 2011 I will be teaching HIS214, Pacific Northwest History. | Title: Composition, Literature, and Pacific Northwest History Instructor Email: jbentley@sccd.ctc.edu Office Location: Off-campus Office Phone:(206) 768-6600 (Academic Programs) Office Hours/Days: Online, email me Department: English and History |
