How Do I Login (Activate) my @SouthSeattle.edu email account?

  1. Go to http://mail.southseattle.edu

  2. Student Username = your 1st initial of your 1st name + your entire last name + the last 3 digits of your Student ID (SID)
    example: Jo Doe-Smith, 999884321     = jdoesmith321
     
  3. Student Password = will be the same as your student username + last 3 digits of SID + temp  example: jdoesmith321temp
First Time Login - you'll be required to create a new password, with a minimum of 8 characters.  This new password will only be used for your @SouthSeattle.edu email account and GA4E services. FYI: Your GA4E @SouthSeattle.edu email password not related to nor will it affect any other campus services such as Computer Network Access, or ANGEL, or Student Online Services, etc.

Can't Login using the above directions?  Please use this Request Help form
- You may already have an @SouthSeattle.edu email account with a different password
- You may have forgotten your @SouthSeattle.edu password and need it reset
- You may not have an @SouthSeattle.edu email account, and we'd like to help you get yours!

What's My Email Address?

Your @southseattle.edu email address is made up of the the 1st initial of your 1st name, your whole last name (sans any hypen if you have 2 last names), the last 3 digits of your Student ID# (SID).

 Example: Jo Doe-Smith, 999884321 = jdoesmith321@SouthSeattle.edu

Password Reset

Contact South's eLearning department and they'll reset your password.
 

How to Forward your Email

You can set up your @SouthSeattle.edu mail to forward to your favorite account. This lets folks like your instructors send email to your southseattle.edu email address, and lets you read it from the account of your choice. 

To set up, follow these steps:

    1. Login to your SouthSeattle.edu email account http://mail.southseattle.edu
    2. Click the Gear (icon) in the upper-right hand corner
    3. Select  'Mail Settings'
    4. Click 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' (tab)
    5. Click "Add a Forwarding Address"
    6. Please enter your preferred email address - click "Next"
    7. A message tells you "a Confirmation Code has been sent to verify permission" - click "OK"
    8. Go to your preferred email account - you'll find a forwarding confirmation email from South Seattle Community College with a link in it - click the link
    9. Go back to your @southseattle.edu email account (then gear icon>email settings>Forwarding POP/IMAP)
    10. Make sure to click the radial button next to 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to' -
    11. Click "Save Changes" (at the bottom of the page) and that's all ;)


What are Google Apps?

Google Apps (for Education) is a collection of communication and collaboration tools that are available to all students and employees at South Seattle (North Seattle and Seattle Central) Community College(s).

Currently, Google Apps for Education includes the following:

    • GMAIL (22) Training Videos
    • SITES (17) Training Videos
    • CALENDAR (16) Training Videos

Gmail v.s. Google Apps

While our Google Apps for Education (GA4E) system is hosted by Google and includes Gmail and Google Apps, it is completely separate and independent from other Google accounts you may have.

You can have both a regular Gmail account and a South Seattle Community College email and apps (GA4E) account. You can even be logged into both simultaneously and easily "switch" toggle between your two accounts!

Do people at Google or SSCC know my password?

Absolutely NOT. Google has an encrypted hash created from your password. Google's Recommended Security Checklist

 

Is my SSCC GA4E Account Ever Deleted?

No - SSCC GA4E accounts persist beyond each quarter unless its owner directs our eLearning staff to delete it from our system.

Since 2007, Google has provided educational institutions massive amounts of free server space. So, we NEVER need to delete any SSCC GA4E accounts, unless directed to do so by the account owner, only.

 

Do GA4E accounts share info with other SSCC accounts?

No - SSCC GA4E accounts are NOT related to campus WiFi and computer network accounts.

SSCC GA4E accounts reside on Google servers only. These are separate systems that bear similar login and password structure, only.
