Hi Carey,

I am currently taking this course to reboot my prerequisites for Nurse Practitioner Schools, which need to be taken in the last 5 years. My physiology class I took at UW was taken in 2000, so I decided retake the complete ANP 213/214 series since the UW format has Anatomy and Physiology in separate quarters. I believe this format that you teach is far superior to the format I received at the UW and gives me a comparison the evaluate the efficiency of the class. I have much more to cheer about this course than jeer

Pros:

When anatomy and physiology are "separated", it is difficult to really study one without the other. As quickly as this class seemed to move, the pace was much more difficult in the separated classes, where basically we went through all the systems of the body for anatomy and again in physiology. It felt like basically I took the same class twice rather than efficiently learning the details of each system.   So I appreciate breaking up the body systems into two quarters and studding both anatomy and physiology at the same time

I thinks the hybrid format is very time efficient. I feel like even when I went to class everyday in my previous ANP courses,  students seemed to get still get lost or fall asleep during lectures. Having fewer and mandatory lab sessions  cuts down on wasted lecture time ( as well as sky high gas prices of commuting) and going straight into labs allow more practical and applied learning

Having 1000 points in a quarter allows students to show different strengths in their understanding of the material. for example, my previous classes only had 300-500points, all based on test scores. Allowing points for written labs, case studies and the display project more than just allows for more points to be graded, but also allows different perspectives, applications and methods of understanding and learning ANP besides "memorizing and regurgitating" This is also fair for the diversity of the class for some students would be better at tests and some better at writing projects
